Toyota has officially teased the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV ahead of its India unveiling scheduled for January 19, 2026, confirming the company’s next step in expanding its electric vehicle presence in the country. The teaser was released on January 7, 2026, and highlights Toyota’s plans to enter the competitive midsize electric SUV segment with a locally relevant product.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be the brand’s first mass-market battery electric SUV for India. Developed under the global Toyota–Suzuki partnership, the electric SUV is expected to share its core platform with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. However, Toyota has made it clear that the Urban Cruiser EV will feature brand-specific styling elements, interior differentiation, and tuning to maintain its distinct identity.

In the teaser visuals, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV showcases a sharp and modern lighting signature. The SUV features slim LED headlamps paired with a connected daytime running light design, giving it a clean and futuristic front profile.
