Ather has actually confirmed more about this one than usual. The Konarc name is official, the launch date is official, and even the event it’s launching at is official. What’s still up in the air is almost everything that determines whether it’s actually a good buy: the exact range figures, the battery sizes, and the final price. Here’s what belongs in which bucket.

What’s confirmed

Ather Energy will reveal the Konarc on August 29, 2026, at its annual Ather Community Day event. The name itself was confirmed through a company teaser, and it’s widely believed to reference the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, continuing Ather’s pattern of Indian cultural naming. This is the first production scooter built on Ather’s new EL platform, the same architecture previewed as the EL01 concept at Community Day 2025. Ather has confirmed the platform is designed to support battery packs from roughly 2 kWh to 5 kWh, and that production has already begun at the company’s manufacturing facility, which suggests deliveries won’t lag far behind the launch. The scooter will use metal body panels rather than the polymer panels on the current 450 series and Rizta, a build change Ather confirmed directly through social media.

The Konarc sits below the Rizta in Ather’s lineup and is aimed squarely at first-time EV buyers and families, not performance riders.

Expected range

This is where it gets interesting, and where the caveats matter most. Leaked information points to Ather introducing a new battery family called Bedrock, offered across multiple pack sizes with IDC-certified range options of 100 km, 125 km, 160 km, and up to 200 km on the top variant. If that top figure holds up at launch, it would make the Konarc Ather’s longest-range scooter to date, ahead of anything currently in the 450 series or Rizta lineup. None of these range numbers have been officially confirmed by Ather yet, they’re sourced from pre-launch leaks, so treat the 200 km figure as a ceiling estimate rather than a guaranteed spec.

Six variants are reportedly planned, four “S” trims (SR1 through SR4) and two higher “Q” trims (QR2 and QR3), each likely tied to a different battery size and therefore a different range figure. Ather hasn’t explained what the S and Q labels stand for, so their exact positioning should become clear only at the unveiling.

Expected price

Multiple auto portals converge on an expected ex-showroom price range of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh, which would place the Konarc below the Rizta’s current starting price of roughly Rs 1.21 lakh and well below the 450 series, which starts around Rs 1.36 lakh. Some reports peg the entry variant closer to Rs 90,000. Ather hasn’t announced an official price, and given the six-variant spread being reported, expect a noticeably wider price band across the lineup than Ather currently offers on any single model. There’s also talk that Ather could introduce a Battery-as-a-Service subscription option to lower the upfront cost further, similar to what it already offers on existing scooters, but this hasn’t been confirmed either.

Expected features and hardware

The Konarc is expected to get a swingarm-mounted motor, likely derived from the unit in the Ather 450X but retuned for smoother, city-friendly delivery rather than outright acceleration. Suspension is expected to be a telescopic front fork with a single rear shock, riding on a 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheel combination, with a front disc and rear drum handling braking duties, backed by what’s being called an Advanced Electrical Braking System that blends regenerative and standard braking.
