Mahindra Global Pik Up: Expected Price and Specs Ahead of Independence Day Launch

Mahindra has turned its Independence Day event in Cape Town into a recurring stage for showing where its product line is headed next, having used it in the past to reveal concepts like the XUV.e, the BE electric SUVs, the Thar.e and, back in 2023, the original Global Pik Up concept itself. With this year’s event reportedly expanded into a three-day affair, speculation around the automaker’s pickup truck is picking up again, though Mahindra has not yet issued an official statement confirming a production launch date or price for the Global Pik Up.

What the Global Pik Up Is Built On

The production Global Pik Up is based on Mahindra’s Scorpio N platform, using the same new-generation ladder-frame chassis. It’s expected to be offered in single-cab, cab-and-a-half, and double-cab body styles, positioning it as a successor to the ageing Scorpio Getaway, which has been sold in India in some form since 2006.

Spy shots of test mules circulating through 2025 and 2026 have shown a toned-down version of the aggressive 2023 concept, with a more production-friendly front end while retaining the boxy, rugged stance typical of the segment.

Expected Engine and Drivetrain

Reports differ slightly on the exact displacement, with some pegging it at the Scorpio N’s familiar 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and others citing a 2,498cc four-cylinder unit, likely a next-generation version of the same engine family. What’s more consistent across reports is the transmission story: a 6-speed manual is expected to be standard, with a 6-speed automatic tipped as an option on higher trims. A 4WD system with multiple terrain modes, reportedly including settings for grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts and sand, is also widely expected. Expected Price and Launch Timing

This is where estimates vary the most. Price predictions across automotive platforms range anywhere from roughly ₹12 lakh to ₹32 lakh ex-showroom, with a large cluster of estimates converging somewhere around ₹25 lakh for the base variant, climbing toward ₹30-32 lakh for a fully loaded 4WD automatic trim. Given that spread, treat any specific number circulating right now as a rough ballpark rather than a reliable figure.

Launch timing estimates have been similarly inconsistent through 2025 and 2026, with different reports pointing to windows as early as January 2026 and as late as the final quarter of the year. The renewed chatter tied to this year’s Independence Day event has brought August 15, 2026 into focus as a possible unveiling date, though it’s worth noting Mahindra’s Independence Day showcases have historically been used for concept and technology reveals rather than confirmed production launches with pricing.
