The Indian electric vehicle market is rapidly evolving, with a host of new EV models slated to arrive through 2026. According to the latest Autocar India report, about nine new electric cars and two refreshed EVs are scheduled for launch next year across multiple segments. These launches span affordable mass-market EVs to larger crossovers and premium electric vehicles, reflecting brands’ intensified push into electrified mobility.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is one of the most anticipated battery-electric SUVs in India. The launch has been delayed, but key details such as pricing and final specifications are yet to be announced. The SUV will rival established EVs like the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Tata Sierra EV. It’s expected to offer two battery pack options 49kWh and 61kWh with the larger pack providing a claimed MIDC range of around 543km. The SUV has also achieved a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP.

Expected by the first quarter of 2026, the Tata Sierra EV will join Tata Motors’ growing electric portfolio. It is likely to feature battery options shared with other Tata EVs such as the Curvv EV and Harrier EV, potentially ranging between 55kWh and 65kWh. Rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations are anticipated, with prices for the Sierra EV expected to span from approximately Rs 16 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Vinfast Limo Green is poised to be a crossover-styled electric MPV targeted at families and urban buyers. Pricing is likely to fall between Rs 22 lakh and Rs 26 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a premium but comparatively practical EV choice.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV compact electric SUV showcased for Indian market launch

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is the badge-engineered cousin of the Maruti e Vitara, expected to follow closely after its launch. While sharing battery and motor configurations with its Maruti counterpart, the Urban Cruiser EV will feature distinctive styling and interior elements to differentiate it in the market. Price estimates suggest a band of around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Kia Syros EV

Due by mid-2026, the Kia Syros EV will expand Kia’s electric offerings in India. Spy images indicate styling similar to the petrol Syros compact SUV but with EV-specific design cues like a closed front grille. Battery and range details are expected to mirror those of the Hyundai Inster EV abroad, with WLTP figures ranging between 300km and 350km. Estimated pricing could be around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).

Vinfast may also offer a battery-subscription plan to keep upfront costs lower.

Tata Punch EV Facelift

Set to arrive possibly by late 2026, the Skoda Elroq is under consideration for the Indian market. This EV could rival premium electric SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW iX1, with battery options ranging from 52kWh to 77kWh and a top end WLTP range around 560km. Local launch plans are still tentative.

Maruti Electric MPV

Maruti Suzuki’s second EV an electric MPV based on the e Vitara platform is expected to enter India by late 2026 or early 2027. It will likely use the same battery options as the e Vitara and be priced above equivalent ICE MPVs like the Ertiga, with ranges similar to its SUV sibling.

Tata Avinya

Tata Confirms Avinya EV Launch Next Year, Dedicated Sales Network Planned

Under its premium electric brand, Tata is preparing to launch the Tata Avinya, the first model on its advanced Gen 3 skateboard platform. The Avinya will be positioned above the Harrier EV and target buyers looking for higher performance and luxury EV features. A sportback or SUV variant could lead the range before 2026 ends.
