Workforce Reduction Plan
Ola Electric said the workforce reduction will impact roughly 5 percent of its total employee base. The company described the move as part of a long-term structural shift to build a leaner organisation with faster decision-making and improved operational control.

According to the company, the changes are not driven by short-term cost cutting alone but by a redesign of internal processes, particularly in customer service and operational functions.

Shift Toward Automation
Automation is at the centre of Ola Electric’s restructuring strategy. The company has been increasing the use of automated systems across front-end operations, including service request handling and issue resolution.

Ola Electric said higher automation levels have already helped improve service efficiency, with a growing share of customer issues being resolved more quickly than before. The company believes this approach will reduce dependency on large manual teams over time.

Profitability Focus
The workforce reduction aligns with Ola Electric’s broader goal of achieving profitability. The company has faced pressure from slower electric scooter sales, rising competition and margin challenges, prompting a renewed emphasis on cost control and operational efficiency.

Management indicated that disciplined spending, better service performance and automation-led processes are key pillars of its path toward sustainable profitability.

Market and Competitive Context
India’s electric two-wheeler market has seen intensifying competition from both established manufacturers and newer EV-focused players. Ola Electric, which was once the clear market leader, has seen its market share fluctuate as rivals expand their product portfolios and service networks.

The evolving market dynamics have forced EV makers to prioritise efficiency, customer satisfaction and financial sustainability alongside growth.
