JSW MG Motor India has unveiled special Couture Edition versions of its two MG Select flagships, the M9 luxury electric MPV and the Cyberster electric roadster, developed in collaboration with fashion designer Gaurav Gupta. The bespoke models were showcased at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai alongside the launch of Gupta’s latest couture collection, Light Song.
What’s actually new
The Couture Editions are strictly a design exercise. MG has confirmed there are no mechanical or feature changes over the standard M9 and Cyberster. The updates are limited to exterior and interior detailing inspired by Gupta’s signature Serpent Infinity motif, applied through embroidery-style patterns, tonal layering, and hand-finished trim elements. MG is positioning these as India’s first couture-edition luxury vehicles, aimed squarely at collectors and buyers looking for a highly personalised, low-volume version of an already-premium product.

Both the M9 Couture Edition and the Cyberster Couture Edition will be capped at just 50 units apiece, making them among the rarest MG models sold in India. They will be available exclusively through MG Select, the brand’s premium retail channel, rather than MG’s regular dealership network.
Booking and pricing timeline
Pre-reservations for both Couture Editions are open now. MG has said official pricing for both models will be announced on August 3, coinciding with the close of the pre-reservation window. As of publishing, MG has not released the specific price premium the Couture treatment carries over the standard cars.
For reference, the standard MG M9 is currently priced at ₹75.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the standard Cyberster is priced at ₹77.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
What the standard cars offer
The M9 is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor producing 245 PS and 350 Nm, paired with a 90 kWh battery good for an ARAI-claimed range of 548 km. The Cyberster uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing around 503 bhp and 725 Nm, drawing from a 77 kWh battery with a claimed range of 580 km.
The collaboration
This is the second project between MG Select and Gaurav Gupta, following an earlier design preview of the Cyberster shown at the designer’s menswear flagship store in New Delhi earlier this year. Speaking at the Mumbai unveiling, Milind Shah, Head of MG Select at JSW MG Motor India, said the Couture Editions reflect the brand’s push toward automobiles as “enduring symbols of individuality, craftsmanship and modern luxury.” Gupta added that the project translates his sculptural design philosophy into “the world of luxury mobility.”
