Mahindra has confirmed that the waiting period for the XUV 7XO has extended significantly across several variants, with delays now stretching up to 12 months for select trims. The strong response following the SUV’s launch has resulted in high booking volumes, creating long delivery timelines, especially for lower variants.

According to dealer-level information, the base AX variant of the XUV 7XO is currently facing the longest waiting period. Customers opting for this entry-level trim are being informed of delivery timelines of up to one year, regardless of whether they choose petrol or diesel powertrains. Mahindra is understood to be prioritising production efficiency and early bookings, which has contributed to longer waits for new orders in this variant.

Mid-level variants such as AX3 and AX5 are seeing comparatively shorter but still substantial waiting periods. Buyers choosing these trims can expect delivery timelines of around five months. These variants offer a balance between pricing and features, making them popular choices and adding pressure on production schedules.

At the higher end of the range, waiting periods are notably shorter. The AX7T variants currently have the quickest delivery timelines, with some customers being quoted waiting periods of up to four weeks. These trims come equipped with additional features and technology, and availability appears to be better managed at present.

Other higher trims, including AX7 and AX7L, fall between the two extremes. Petrol versions of the AX7 are seeing waiting periods of approximately four to six weeks, while AX7L variants can take between four and six months, depending on the configuration and fuel type selected.

The XUV 7XO has replaced the earlier XUV700 in Mahindra’s portfolio and has generated strong interest across multiple segments of buyers. Initial deliveries were largely allocated to customers who booked early, while new bookings are now facing extended queues, particularly for high-demand variants.

For buyers in India, the wide variation in waiting periods highlights the importance of variant selection. Customers seeking quicker delivery may need to consider higher trims, while those opting for base or mid variants should be prepared for longer waiting times as Mahindra works through its existing order backlog.
