Ather EL01 India Launch Teased for August 29 What to Expect

Ather Energy has confirmed August 29 as the launch date for its first EL-platform electric scooter, now named Konarc, at Ather Community Day 2026 in Bengaluru. Recent teasers offer the clearest look yet at the production model.

Ather Energy will launch its first electric scooter built on the all-new EL platform on August 29, 2026, at Ather Community Day in Bengaluru. The company has now confirmed the scooter’s production name: Konarc, moving on from the EL01 tag that was used for the concept shown at last year’s Community Day.

Ather CEO Tarun Mehta recently shared an image of the Konarc on the assembly line, giving the clearest look yet at the production-ready scooter ahead of the official unveiling. The design stays close to the EL01 concept, with a handlebar-mounted LED headlight, a wide apron-mounted DRL, and an overall silhouette that matches the design patent Ather filed last year. One notable change from Ather’s existing line-up: the Konarc appears to use metal body panels rather than the polymer panels found on the 450 series and Rizta.

What the teasers show so far

The assembly-line image reveals a 14-inch front wheel paired with a 12-inch rear wheel, a front disc brake, and a rear drum brake setup. The scooter is expected to get a long, single-piece seat and a spacious floorboard, positioning it as a family-focused commuter rather than a performance model. Ather hasn’t detailed a spec sheet yet, though the EL platform itself is built to support battery packs ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh, and the first Konarc variant is expected to use a mid-sized pack from that range.

Expected pricing

Industry expectation puts the Konarc’s ex-showroom price between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.25 lakh, which would place it below Ather’s existing line-up, the Rizta starts at ₹1.21 lakh and the 450 range at ₹1.28 lakh, and put it in direct contention with the Bajaj Chetak, TVS Orbiter, Ampere Nexus, and Hero Vida VX2.

Why this launch matters beyond one scooter

Ather has positioned Community Day 2026 as more than a single product reveal. The company has said the event will also cover new charging infrastructure, ownership-ecosystem upgrades, and software developments. The EL platform itself is described as Ather’s first entirely new vehicle architecture since the 450 series, engineered to be modular enough to underpin multiple future scooters across different sizes, battery capacities, and price points.

That matters for how this launch should be read: the Konarc isn’t just Ather entering the sub-₹1.25 lakh mass-market segment, a segment it has largely stayed out of until now, it’s the first product off a platform the company is betting will carry its next generation of scooters. A pricing miss or hit here will shape how aggressively Ather can compete for volume against Ola Electric, TVS, Bajaj, and Hero MotoCorp in the segment that currently drives the bulk of India’s EV two-wheeler sales.

Techy Trends will carry full launch coverage, including confirmed specifications and pricing, on August 29.
