5 New Cars Launching in India This August: Scorpio-N, EX90 and More

August has turned into one of the busiest launch months of the year for the Indian car market. Mahindra has already kicked things off around Independence Day, and four more launches, spanning a mid-size sedan, a luxury EV, a long-wheelbase premium SUV, and MG’s first NEV-platform SUV, are lined up before the month wraps.

1. Mahindra Scorpio-N Facelift, Rs 13.69 Lakh

This one’s already done. Mahindra has officially launched the updated Scorpio-N with a starting price of Rs 13.69 lakh, ex-showroom, offered across seven variants with petrol and diesel powertrain options. The headline addition is a panoramic sunroof on the top-spec Z8L trim, which also gets a 540-degree surround view camera with a blind view monitor. The dashboard has been upgraded too, with a 12.29-inch touchscreen infotainment system alongside physical buttons, and a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with three configurable layouts. Higher variants now roll on 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, up from 17-inch units, and there’s a new 65-watt USB Type-C fast-charging port up front. Top-end pricing goes up to Rs 25.49 lakh.

If you’ve been eyeing a Scorpio-N, this is the version to wait for, the feature bump is real and the mechanicals haven’t changed, so there’s nothing to second-guess on reliability.

2. Skoda Slavia Facelift, August 18

Skoda has confirmed the updated Slavia will go on sale on August 18, with cosmetic updates, feature additions, and a new automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, while the existing engine line-up carries over. The 1.0 TSI’s current 6-speed torque-converter automatic is expected to be swapped for the newer 8-speed unit that debuted on the Kushaq facelift, while the 1.5 TSI keeps its existing 7-speed dual-clutch unit. Expect a mild styling refresh borrowed from the Kushaq and Kodiaq, revised bumpers and a new grille with integrated lighting. The outgoing Slavia is priced between roughly Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh, and the facelift is expected to command a modest premium over that.

3. Volvo EX90, August 19

Volvo’s flagship electric SUV makes its India debut on August 19, becoming Volvo’s second EV for the Indian market and the brand’s global flagship offering. It’s built on an 800V architecture with 92kWh single-motor and 106kWh twin-motor battery options. The single-motor, rear-wheel-drive version makes 333hp and 480Nm, with a claimed 0-100kmph time of 6.6 seconds and a WLTP-rated range of 565km, while the twin-motor all-wheel-drive variant produces 456hp and 670Nm in base spec, rising to 680hp and 870Nm in the range-topping Performance trim. Pricing hasn’t been announced officially yet, though most estimates put it well north of a crore, so treat any number you see before the reveal as speculative.

4. BMW X1 LWB, August 21

BMW’s long-wheelbase X1 launches on August 21, becoming the brand’s most affordable long-wheelbase petrol and diesel model in the country, following the earlier electric iX1 LWB. It’s stretched over the standard car, coming in at 4,616mm long and 1,641mm tall, on a 2,802mm wheelbase, an increase of 116mm in length and 110mm in wheelbase versus the regular X1, which translates into a bigger 540-litre boot and noticeably more rear legroom. Bookings are already open, and India’s regular X1 currently sells with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel, making 136bhp and 150bhp respectively, though there’s a chance BMW brings in the more powerful China-spec 2.0-litre unit instead. There’s currently no direct long-wheelbase rival to this from Audi or Mercedes in India, so it’s carving out a genuinely new niche rather than just chasing an existing one.

5. MG Hector Hawk, August 26

JSW MG closes out the month with the Hector Hawk on August 26, the first production model based on the brand’s new ADAPT platform, which is built to support battery-electric, strong-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and range-extender powertrains. The battery-electric version arrives first, with the plug-in hybrid following later in 2026. It’s related to the Wuling Starlight 560 sold overseas rather than being an EV derivative of the existing Hector, and MG appears to be pitching it on cabin space and an accessible price rather than outright performance, given its front-wheel-drive layout. Early price estimates put the range around Rs 20 lakh to Rs 27 lakh, ex-showroom, though the final number depends on battery localisation and whether MG’s Battery-as-a-Service programme is offered on it. Note that all Hector Hawk specs and pricing remain unconfirmed until MG’s official reveal on the 26th.
