Renault is preparing a major product expansion in India as it plans to introduce three new SUVs across different segments in the coming years. The French automaker is looking to strengthen its presence in the rapidly growing SUV market, which currently dominates passenger vehicle sales in the country. With fresh designs, updated technology, and improved performance, Renault aims to attract a wider range of buyers and regain momentum in the Indian automobile market.

Renault’s New Product Strategy for India

In recent years, Renault’s product lineup in India has remained limited, mainly consisting of models like the Kwid, Kiger, and Triber. While these vehicles have performed reasonably well in their respective segments, the brand has lacked strong representation in the highly competitive SUV categories.

To address this gap, Renault is planning a series of new launches that will target multiple segments. The company’s upcoming strategy focuses heavily on SUVs because of the strong demand from Indian buyers who increasingly prefer high-ground-clearance vehicles with modern styling and advanced features.

By introducing multiple SUVs across different price points, Renault aims to expand its portfolio and compete more effectively with leading manufacturers in India.

Return of the Iconic Renault Duster

One of the most exciting developments is the return of the Renault Duster. The Duster was once a hugely popular SUV in India and played a significant role in establishing Renault’s reputation in the country. However, the model was discontinued due to changing regulations and increased competition.

The next-generation Duster is expected to make a comeback with a completely redesigned exterior, improved interiors, and more advanced features. Built on a modern platform, the new Duster will likely offer better driving dynamics, enhanced safety technology, and improved fuel efficiency.

The SUV is expected to compete in the mid-size segment against popular models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

A New Three-Row SUV for Family Buyers

Along with the new Duster, Renault is also working on a larger three-row SUV that will be based on the same platform. This model is expected to cater to customers who need additional seating and more interior space.

The upcoming three-row SUV will likely feature a longer wheelbase, a spacious cabin, and improved comfort for passengers in all rows. It will target the growing family SUV segment in India where buyers are increasingly looking for practical vehicles that can accommodate larger families.

Once launched, this model could compete with vehicles such as the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar.

Compact SUV to Strengthen Entry-Level Segment

Renault’s third SUV is expected to be a compact model aimed at urban buyers. This vehicle will likely sit below the Duster in the lineup and focus on affordability, efficiency, and practicality.

The compact SUV segment is one of the most competitive categories in India, with models such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza dominating sales charts. Renault’s upcoming compact SUV is expected to feature modern styling, connected technology, and efficient engines to attract young buyers and first-time SUV owners.

This model could help Renault expand its presence in the entry-level SUV market and increase overall sales volumes.

Focus on Modern Technology and Efficiency

Renault’s upcoming SUVs are expected to bring several improvements in terms of technology and powertrain options. The company is likely to introduce advanced infotainment systems, improved safety features, and better connectivity options to match evolving customer expectations.

In addition, the new models could feature more fuel-efficient engines and possibly hybrid technology as automakers move toward cleaner mobility solutions. These upgrades will help Renault remain competitive in a market that is becoming increasingly technology-driven.

India’s Importance in Renault’s Global Plans

India continues to play an important role in Renault’s global strategy. The company has been steadily investing in its local manufacturing and development capabilities, particularly at its facility in Chennai.

By launching new SUVs and expanding its portfolio, Renault aims to strengthen its long-term presence in India while also using the country as a potential export hub for other markets.
