KTM has officially expanded its RC lineup in India with the launch of the KTM RC 160, positioning it as the brand’s most accessible fully-faired motorcycle to date. The new RC 160 brings KTM’s sharp, track-inspired design language to the competitive 150–160cc segment, targeting young riders and first-time sportbike buyers.

Price and Availability

The KTM RC 160 has been launched at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.85 lakh (Delhi). The motorcycle has already started reaching KTM showrooms across major cities, with bookings and deliveries underway through the company’s nationwide dealer network.

By slotting the RC 160 below the RC 200 and RC 390, KTM aims to attract buyers who want a full-fledged sportbike look and riding posture without stepping into higher displacement and cost brackets.

Engine and Performance

Powering the RC 160 is a 164.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, tuned to deliver around 19bhp and 15.5Nm of torque. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and features an assist and slipper clutch, a segment-relevant addition that improves control during aggressive downshifts.

KTM claims the RC 160 offers strong mid-range performance and a top speed of approximately 118km/h, making it suitable for both spirited city rides and occasional highway runs.

Design and Styling

Visually, the RC 160 closely mirrors its larger siblings. It features:

  • A full fairing with sharp creases
  • Aggressive LED headlamp design
  • Low-set clip-on handlebars
  • Rear-set footpegs for a sporty riding stance

The aerodynamic profile and compact proportions underline KTM’s “Ready to Race” DNA, giving the RC 160 a distinct supersport identity in its class.

Hardware and Features

Despite being the entry point to the RC range, the RC 160 does not compromise heavily on hardware. Key components include:

  • Steel trellis frame
  • 37mm USD front forks
  • Rear mono-shock suspension
  • Front and rear disc brakes
  • Dual-channel ABS as standard
  • LCD digital instrument cluster
  • Full LED lighting setup

These features place the RC 160 among the better-equipped motorcycles in the small-capacity sportbike segment.

Rivals and Market Position

The KTM RC 160 directly rivals the Yamaha R15 V4, which has long dominated the entry-level supersport space in India. While the R15 focuses heavily on refinement and track electronics, KTM is betting on aggressive styling, punchy performance, and brand appeal to win over buyers.

With this launch, KTM strengthens its presence in the sub-200cc category and provides a clear upgrade path for riders moving up from naked commuters or entry-level street bikes.

What This Launch Means

The RC 160 is expected to play a crucial role in KTM’s India strategy by:

  • Expanding reach among younger riders
  • Offering a true supersport design at a lower price point
  • Competing directly in one of India’s most popular motorcycle segments

As demand for sporty motorcycles continues to remain strong, the RC 160 could become a volume driver for KTM’s RC lineup.
