TVS Motor Company has introduced the new Orbiter V1 electric scooter in India with a starting price of ₹49,999. The price is available under a Battery as a Service ownership model, which allows buyers to purchase the scooter at a lower upfront cost while paying separately for the battery through a subscription plan.

This pricing strategy is designed to make electric mobility more accessible to a larger number of buyers. With the increasing demand for electric two wheelers in India, TVS aims to attract first time EV buyers who want an affordable and practical commuting option.

The Orbiter V1 is positioned as an entry level electric scooter in the company’s EV lineup and is targeted primarily at urban commuters who need a reliable vehicle for daily travel.

Battery and Performance

The TVS Orbiter V1 is equipped with a 1.8 kWh battery pack that powers the electric motor and delivers efficient performance for everyday commuting. The scooter has been designed to provide smooth acceleration and stable performance for city riding conditions.

In terms of speed, the Orbiter V1 can reach a top speed of around 68 kmph, which is suitable for urban traffic and short distance travel. The electric scooter also includes different riding modes that allow riders to adjust the performance and efficiency depending on their needs.

Eco mode focuses on maximizing range and efficiency, while city mode provides slightly stronger acceleration for regular commuting.

Designed for Everyday Practicality

The Orbiter V1 has been designed with simplicity and practicality in mind. The scooter features a clean and modern look that appeals to young riders as well as daily commuters.

One of the notable features is the long 845 mm seat, which offers improved comfort for both the rider and the pillion passenger. This makes the scooter suitable for longer rides within the city.

The scooter also provides practical storage options. The under seat storage area allows riders to carry daily essentials such as bags or small items. These features make the Orbiter V1 a convenient vehicle for everyday commuting.

Modern Technology and Safety Features

TVS has equipped the Orbiter V1 with several modern features that enhance the riding experience. The scooter includes a digital instrument display that shows important riding information such as speed, battery level and range.

Additional convenience features include smartphone connectivity through a mobile application, cruise control, hill hold assist and reverse mode. Reverse mode can be particularly useful when parking the scooter in tight spaces.

The scooter has also undergone extensive testing during development to ensure safety and reliability in daily use.

Affordable Running Costs

Electric scooters are gaining popularity in India mainly because of their low running costs compared with petrol powered vehicles. The Orbiter V1 is designed to offer a very economical commuting option.

Since it runs on electricity instead of petrol, the cost per kilometer is significantly lower. For riders who travel daily to work, college or other places within the city, this can result in considerable savings over time.

The Battery as a Service model also helps reduce the initial purchase cost, making the scooter more attractive for buyers who want to switch to electric mobility without spending a large amount upfront.

Strengthening TVS Electric Vehicle Strategy

The launch of the Orbiter V1 reflects TVS Motor Company’s continued focus on expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in India. As the demand for EVs grows, manufacturers are introducing more affordable models to encourage adoption among everyday riders.

By offering a budget friendly electric scooter with practical features and flexible ownership options, TVS aims to reach a wider audience in the two wheeler market.

With rising fuel prices and increasing interest in sustainable transportation, affordable electric scooters like the Orbiter V1 could play an important role in accelerating the transition to electric mobility in India.
