Volkswagen Tayron R-Line three-row SUV launched in India

Volkswagen India has launched the Tayron R-Line in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 46.99 lakh. The new model becomes the brand’s flagship SUV in the country, positioned in the premium three-row SUV segment.

The launch is significant as it strengthens Volkswagen’s presence in the higher-end SUV space, where demand for large, feature-rich family vehicles continues to remain steady. The Tayron R-Line is offered in a single, fully loaded trim and will be available through select dealerships across India.

In terms of design, the Tayron R-Line carries distinct sporty styling elements. It features R-Line specific exterior detailing, LED lighting elements, a bold front grille, and large alloy wheels that underline its premium positioning. The SUV’s proportions and stance reflect its three-row layout, offering a strong road presence.

Inside, the cabin focuses on technology and comfort. The SUV is equipped with a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, and connected car features. The three-row seating layout is designed to accommodate families, with flexibility in the second-row configuration to enhance practicality.

Powering the Tayron R-Line is a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The SUV also comes with Volkswagen’s all-wheel-drive system, aimed at delivering balanced performance and stability across varied driving conditions.

Safety features include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, advanced driver assistance systems, and other active and passive safety technologies. With this launch, Volkswagen positions the Tayron R-Line as a technology-focused and performance-oriented offering in its segment.

The Tayron R-Line competes with other premium three-row SUVs in the Rs 45–50 lakh bracket. By introducing this model, Volkswagen aims to cater to buyers looking for a European alternative with a strong emphasis on driving dynamics, build quality, and brand positioning.

Why this matters now is clear. The premium SUV segment in India continues to attract customers seeking larger vehicles with advanced features and strong road presence. With the Tayron R-Line, Volkswagen expands its portfolio upward and signals renewed focus on the higher end of the Indian passenger vehicle market.
