Mercedes-Benz India has confirmed the return of its luxury MPV, the V-Class, to the Indian market, with the official launch scheduled for March 3. The premium people-mover was earlier discontinued in India and is now set to make a comeback, targeting buyers who prioritise comfort, space, and luxury over conventional SUV formats.
The V-Class will be positioned at the top end of the MPV segment and is expected to appeal to business owners, luxury fleet operators, and large families looking for a refined travel experience.
Exterior Styling and Overall Design
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class carries a distinctive MPV silhouette with a strong focus on elegance rather than sportiness. It features a large front grille, swept-back headlamps, and a clean, upright profile that emphasises interior space. Large glass areas enhance visibility and contribute to an airy cabin feel.
Its long wheelbase and wide stance give it a commanding road presence, while subtle chrome accents and premium detailing reinforce its luxury positioning.
Cabin Layout, Seating, and Comfort Features
Inside, the V-Class is designed to offer lounge-like comfort. The cabin is expected to feature premium upholstery, soft-touch materials, and a refined dashboard layout. Seating configurations are likely to focus on six- and seven-seat layouts, with individual captain seats for second-row passengers.
Comfort features are expected to include powered and reclining seats, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control, and a large infotainment screen paired with a digital driver display. Rear passengers are expected to benefit from generous legroom and adjustable seating positions, making long journeys comfortable.
Engine, Transmission, and Driving Experience
For India, the new V-Class is expected to be offered with a 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission. Globally, this engine is available in different power outputs, delivering strong torque for smooth highway cruising and effortless passenger hauling.
Power is expected to be sent to the rear wheels, offering a refined and stable driving experience. The focus is likely to be on comfort-oriented tuning rather than aggressive performance.
Safety Systems and Onboard Technology
Safety is expected to be a strong point for the V-Class. Anticipated features include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, and advanced braking systems. Driver assistance features such as parking sensors, rear camera, and adaptive driving aids may also be offered, depending on the variant.
Mercedes-Benz is also expected to equip the V-Class with connected car technology and advanced infotainment features to match its premium positioning.
Positioning in India’s Luxury MPV Segment
Once launched, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class will compete with other luxury MPVs available in India. Unlike large SUVs, the V-Class focuses on rear-seat comfort, making it especially attractive for chauffeur-driven buyers and luxury travel use cases.
Its return signals Mercedes-Benz’s confidence in the growing demand for high-end people-movers in the Indian market.
What Will Be Announced at Launch
Final pricing, variant details, and exact feature lists will be announced at the official launch on March 3. The V-Class is expected to be imported and positioned as a niche but highly premium offering in Mercedes-Benz India’s lineup.
