Toyota Kirloskar Motor started calendar year 2026 on a positive note by reporting a 15 percent year-on-year increase in total sales for January. The company recorded combined domestic and export sales of 33,880 vehicles during the month, compared to 29,371 units sold in January 2025.

The January performance highlights steady demand for Toyota’s product lineup across the Indian market, particularly in the SUV and MPV segments. Despite a competitive market environment, the company managed to maintain growth momentum at the start of the year.

Domestic sales formed the bulk of the January volumes. Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 30,630 vehicles in India during the month, registering a 17 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This growth was supported by consistent demand for the brand’s core models across urban and semi-urban markets.

Exports remained stable in January, with the company shipping 3,250 units overseas. While export growth was modest, it contributed to overall sales stability and helped support the year-on-year increase in total volumes.

Sales during the month were driven by Toyota’s established portfolio of SUVs and MPVs. Models such as the Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, Legender and Urban Cruiser Hyryder continued to anchor demand, reflecting customer preference for spacious, reliable and feature-rich vehicles.

January also marked an important step in Toyota’s product journey in India, with the introduction of its first battery-electric passenger vehicle for the market. This move aligns with the company’s broader multi-pathway approach, which includes internal combustion engines, strong hybrid technology and electric vehicles.

From a market perspective, the January sales performance indicates resilience rather than aggressive expansion. Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s ability to deliver double-digit growth at the beginning of the year provides a stable base as the industry navigates evolving consumer preferences and pricing sensitivities.

The positive start to 2026 is expected to support dealer confidence and operational planning in the months ahead. While one month does not define annual performance, January sales often set the tone for early-year momentum.

Overall, Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s January 2026 results underline consistent demand for its portfolio and reinforce its position in India’s passenger vehicle market as the company enters the new calendar year with steady growth.
