Simple Ultra electric scooter launched in India

Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer Simple Energy on 6 January 2026 officially introduced its new flagship electric scooter, the Simple Ultra, in India. The launch is significant because the company claims the scooter delivers the longest certified riding range ever for an electric scooter in the Indian market, addressing one of the biggest concerns among EV buyers — range anxiety.

The Simple Ultra is positioned above the existing Simple One lineup and is aimed at customers who want an electric scooter that can comfortably handle multiple days of commuting or longer rides without frequent charging.

Focus on extended range and real-world usability

Simple Energy has developed the Simple Ultra with a strong emphasis on reducing charging dependency. The scooter is designed to allow riders to complete daily commuting needs for several days before requiring a recharge, making it particularly relevant for users living in cities with limited charging infrastructure.

For many electric scooter buyers, range remains the single biggest deciding factor, and Simple Energy is clearly betting that extended real-world usability will drive adoption at the premium end of the market.

Largest battery ever fitted to an electric scooter in India

At the heart of the Simple Ultra is a 6.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is currently the largest battery offered on any electric scooter sold in India. This large battery enables a claimed IDC range of up to 400 km on a single charge, placing the Simple Ultra well ahead of most electric scooters currently available in the country.

The company says the battery system has been engineered in-house, focusing on durability, energy efficiency, and consistent performance across varied riding conditions.

Performance tuned for everyday riding

Rather than positioning the Simple Ultra as a performance-focused scooter, Simple Energy has prioritised smooth and predictable power delivery. The electric motor and power electronics are designed to offer confident acceleration in city traffic and stable cruising at urban speeds.

This approach is intended to make the Simple Ultra suitable not just for short commutes, but also for longer, uninterrupted rides without compromising rider comfort or control.

Design and flagship positioning

In terms of design, the Simple Ultra follows the brand’s familiar sporty and modern styling language seen on the Simple One models, while incorporating subtle updates that distinguish it as the flagship offering. The overall design prioritises battery packaging, aerodynamics, and rider ergonomics.

The scooter is built on a locally developed platform, reinforcing Simple Energy’s strategy of controlling key engineering aspects in-house.

Key highlights of the Simple Ultra electric scooter

  • Claimed IDC range of up to 400 km on a single charge
  • 6.5 kWh battery pack, the largest in the Indian electric scooter segment
  • Flagship positioning above the Simple One and Simple OneS
  • In-house developed battery system, motor, and power electronics
  • Designed to reduce charging frequency and improve ownership convenience
