India’s electric SUV shelf has genuinely filled out this year. A buyer with ₹25 lakh to spend is no longer choosing between one or two half-baked options. There are now real, usable electric SUVs and crossovers across this bracket, from familiar Tata and Mahindra names to fresh entrants like the Maruti e Vitara and Hyundai Creta Electric.

The problem now is not availability, it is picking the right one. Claimed range numbers all sound impressive on a spec sheet, but they rarely hold up once you factor in Indian traffic, summer AC load, and daily charging habits. This guide shortlists six models actually worth cross-shopping under ₹25 lakh, and tells you honestly which buyer each one fits.

Quick Comparison: Electric Cars Under ₹25 Lakh

Prices shown are ex-showroom and move with variant, state, and running offers, so treat this table as a starting point rather than a final number. Always ask the dealer for a written on-road price breakup before booking.

Tata Nexon EV: The Safe, Proven Default

The Nexon EV has been around long enough that Tata has ironed out most of the early complaints, and it remains the best-selling EV in this bracket for a reason. It comes with two battery choices, a 30 kWh pack for city-focused buyers and a 45 kWh long-range pack that claims up to 489 km on the MIDC cycle.

Real-world range is the honest number that matters more. City owners running the AC through Delhi or Bengaluru summers regularly report closer to 220-260 km on the smaller pack, which is still enough for most daily commutes but worth knowing before you buy expecting the brochure figure. Tata’s service network is also the widest among EV-focused brands in India, which counts for a lot outside the metros.

Best for: first-time EV buyers who want a known quantity and don’t want to gamble on a newer brand’s service reach.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: Budget Entry Into the Segment

If ₹25 lakh is your ceiling rather than your target spend, the XUV 3XO EV opens the segment from under ₹14 lakh. It brings Mahindra’s SUV styling and a genuinely well-built cabin at a price that undercuts most rivals on this list by a wide margin.

Mahindra has been sequencing variant launches through the year, so confirm the exact pack and ARAI number for the specific trim you’re considering before finalising.

Best for: buyers who want SUV proportions and a Mahindra badge without stretching toward the ₹20 lakh mark.

Tata Curvv EV: More Range, Coupe Styling

The Curvv EV sits above the Nexon in Tata’s own lineup and makes its case almost entirely on range. With the larger 55 kWh pack, it claims up to 502 km, among the highest in this price bracket, and it pairs that with a coupe-SUV silhouette that looks noticeably different from the boxier Nexon.

The trade-off is that the sloping roofline eats into rear headroom a bit compared to the Nexon, so if you regularly carry tall adults in the back seat, sit in the car before deciding purely on the range number.

Best for: buyers who want the longest realistic range in the Tata lineup and don’t mind paying a premium over the Nexon for it.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: The Value and Service Network Pick

Maruti’s first serious EV play brings something the segment badly needed: Maruti’s genuinely enormous service network reaching well beyond metro cities. The e Vitara is offered with two battery pack options, and Maruti has also introduced a Battery-as-a-Service model that can pull the effective starting price down to around ₹10.99 lakh by separating the battery cost from the vehicle price.

Early reports suggest it will sit competitively against the Creta Electric and BE 6, but wait for Maruti’s official ARAI number rather than relying on pre-launch estimates.

Best for: buyers in smaller towns and cities who prioritise easy servicing over chasing the single longest range figure on paper.

Hyundai Creta Electric: The Familiar Badge

Hyundai brought its best-known SUV nameplate into the electric segment, and that familiarity is the entire pitch. The Creta Electric carries the smallest battery packs in this comparison relative to its rivals, topping out at a claimed 473 km on the larger pack, but it compensates with Hyundai’s polished cabin quality and a dealer network that many buyers already trust from the petrol Creta.

It is priced slightly above the Nexon EV and XUV 3XO EV, positioning it as the brand-trust choice rather than the outright value or range leader in this list.

Best for: existing Hyundai owners or buyers who specifically want the reassurance of a familiar, established nameplate over a newer EV-focused brand.

Mahindra BE 6: The Range and Performance Leader

The BE 6 is the newest and most range-focused entry here. Its base Pack One variant starts around ₹18.90 lakh, but the real story is the 79 kWh Pack Two option, which claims up to 683 km, comfortably the longest range under ₹25 lakh in India today. Power output on the larger pack also crosses 280 bhp, which is genuinely quick for this price bracket.

That range and power come at a cost: fully loaded Pack Two variants creep close to or past the ₹24 lakh mark, and Mahindra’s BE sub-brand is still building out its dedicated service and charging network compared to Tata or Maruti. If you’re outside a major city, check local service availability before committing.

Best for: buyers who do genuine long-distance highway driving and want the most range and performance for the money, and who are comfortable with a newer service network.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which electric car under ₹25 lakh has the longest range in India?

The Mahindra BE 6, on its 79 kWh Pack Two variant, claims up to 683 km, the highest ARAI-certified figure in this price bracket as of 2026.

Is the claimed ARAI range realistic for daily use?

Not fully. Real-world range in Indian city traffic with the AC running typically comes in 20 to 30 percent below the claimed figure. A car claiming 500 km should realistically be budgeted at 350-400 km for daily planning purposes.

Which electric car under ₹25 lakh is best for someone outside a major city?

The Tata Nexon EV and Maruti e Vitara currently have the widest service network reach outside metro areas, which matters more for long-term ownership than the range figure alone.
