MG Hector Hawk Teaser Breakdown: Design and Features Ahead of Launch

JSW MG Motor India has released a run of teasers for its new three-row SUV ahead of the August 26 launch. Here's everything the exterior and interior teasers have actually confirmed so far, separated from what's still speculation.

JSW MG Motor India hasn’t shown the Hector Hawk in full yet, but between the exterior teaser, the interior video, and the earlier spy shots, there’s now a fairly detailed picture of what arrives on August 26. This breakdown sticks to what MG has actually confirmed through its own teaser material, and flags separately what’s still coming from spy shots, patent filings, or informed speculation.

Exterior: what MG’s teaser confirms

MG’s official teaser message reads “ADAPT takes its first electric form,” and the images released alongside it lay out a fairly complete exterior picture.

Front end, A split LED daytime running light setup sits above rectangular LED headlamps, a layout previously spotted on camouflaged test mules. Below that is a black grille finished with chrome inserts and the MG badge at its centre, closed off in the style typical of dedicated EVs, and a sculpted bonnet ties the nose together. Contrast-coloured skid plates run along the lower bumper.

Sides, Large dual-tone alloy wheels, body-coloured ORVMs, black plastic cladding under the doors, pronounced front fenders, and a brushed-aluminium strip running along the window line. Pull-type door handles have also shown up in teaser stills, a more conventional choice than the flush handles some rivals use.

Roof and rear, The roof, pillars, and shark-fin antenna are finished in black, with roof rails running the length of the car. At the back, wraparound LED tail-lights, an integrated spoiler, and a rear wiper and washer round out the profile. A charging port sits on the left rear fender, confirmed from earlier spy shots of the test mule.

Colour and India-specific touches, MG has said the car gets India-specific styling changes over the Wuling Starlight 560 it’s based on, though the company hasn’t detailed exactly what those changes are yet. A five-spoke alloy wheel design and red brake calipers on select trims have appeared in some of the released images.

Interior: what the teaser video shows

MG’s interior teaser is a roughly 45-second video, and it gives a genuinely detailed first look at the cabin rather than just a glimpse.

Colour and layout, The cabin runs a beige theme rather than the all-black finish common in this segment, a practical choice for Indian summers since lighter cabins absorb less heat and read as more spacious. The layout is confirmed as three rows and seven seats, with a bench-style second row rather than captain’s seats, and adjustable headrests across all three rows.

Dashboard and controls, A two-spoke multifunction steering wheel sits ahead of a large, freestanding touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster. The dashboard otherwise looks minimalist, with some physical switchgear retained on the steering wheel, centre console, and doors rather than everything being pushed into the touchscreen, based on what’s visible from the related Wuling Eksion, which shares much of the Hector Hawk’s underlying design.

Confirmed comfort features, A panoramic sunroof is visible in the teaser as part of the standard or available equipment. Beyond that, MG’s video doesn’t linger long enough to confirm ventilated seats, exact upholstery material, or second-row amenities, so treat anything beyond the beige theme, sunroof, and seating layout as still unconfirmed.

What’s expected but not yet teaser-confirmed

A few details are circulating from patent filings and pre-launch reporting rather than MG’s own teasers, and are worth keeping separate from what’s actually confirmed above:

  • A 12.8-inch central touchscreen paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, running MG’s Ling OS infotainment
  • Six speakers, automatic climate control, connected-car features, and a Level 2 ADAS suite
  • Trademark filings for both “Hector Hawk” and “Hector Hawk Plus,” suggesting MG may eventually offer a 5-seat and a 6- or 7-seat variant under related names, similar to how the current Hector lineup is structured

None of this has appeared in MG’s own teaser material yet, so treat it as pre-launch reporting rather than confirmed specification.

EV first, PHEV to follow

MG’s teaser and related reporting confirm the electric version launches first on August 26, with the plug-in hybrid variant expected to join the lineup afterward rather than at the same event. The EV is expected to use a roughly 69.2 kWh LFP battery pack with a front-mounted motor producing around 204 PS and 310 Nm, though this figure hasn’t come from MG’s teaser itself and should be treated as a pre-launch estimate.
