Skoda Slavia Facelift Unveiled in India: New Features, 8-Speed Automatic Confirmed

Skoda has pulled the wraps off the Slavia facelift in India, bringing revised styling, a bigger digital instrument cluster, and a new 8-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre engine. The sedan's official price is yet to be announced.

Skoda has unveiled the facelifted Slavia in India, giving its C-segment sedan its first major update since launch. According to CarDekho, the company has not yet announced an official launch date, and pricing is expected to be revealed early next month, so buyers eyeing the car will need to wait a little longer before they can compare it against rivals like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Volkswagen Virtus on value.

What’s already confirmed is the bulk of the design and mechanical story. Up front, the Slavia facelift gets a redesigned headlamp housing with LED projectors and a revised DRL signature, along with a reworked grille that carries chrome accents on the top variants and an all-black treatment on the sportier Monte Carlo. The LED fog lamps are smaller than before and sit at either end of a freshly styled front bumper.

Inside, Skoda has kept the overall dashboard layout familiar, retaining the beige-and-black cabin theme rather than overhauling it. The changes here are more about substance than surface: the touchscreen infotainment system carries an updated user interface, the digital instrument cluster is now larger, and the car adds a 360-degree camera, none of which the outgoing Slavia offers.

The bigger mechanical talking point is under the hood, or rather, in the gearbox. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine now gets an 8-speed automatic in place of the older 6-speed torque converter unit, a change Skoda first introduced on the Kushaq facelift earlier this year. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol continues untouched, paired solely with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Engine outputs themselves haven’t changed, so this is a transmission refresh rather than a power bump, and the move should make the smaller-engined automatic feel noticeably smoother at highway speeds.

Skoda is offering the facelifted Slavia across six variants: Classic, Classic Plus, Signature, Sportline, Prestige, and Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo trim stands apart with blacked-out alloy wheels, red brake calipers, and a red accent on the front grille, continuing the sportier positioning it has carried since its introduction. The palette also grows, with two additional colours taking the total count to ten.

Bookings for the new Slavia are already open at Skoda dealerships and on the brand’s official website, even though the price list itself isn’t out yet. On the safety and driving front, nothing has changed structurally. The Slavia carries forward its 5-star Global NCAP rating and the same ride and handling setup that’s made it a segment favourite.

For now, the outgoing Slavia remains on sale at its existing price of ₹9.99 lakh to ₹18.19 lakh (ex-showroom), and it’s reasonable to expect the facelift to command a modest premium over that range once pricing is announced, though TechyTrends.in will not report a specific figure until Skoda confirms one officially.
