Toyota Hyryder Outsells Innova Again in March, Nears 1 Lakh Annual Sales Milestone

April 11, 2026

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is witnessing a shift in its sales trend as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder continues to gain strong traction in the Indian market. The SUV has once again outsold the Innova in March 2026, highlighting changing customer preferences.

In March, the Hyryder recorded strong monthly sales, slightly surpassing the Innova lineup. This marks another instance where the SUV has outperformed Toyota’s long-time bestseller, indicating a gradual shift toward SUVs in the brand’s portfolio.

The Hyryder is also close to achieving a major milestone in FY2026. With sales nearing the 1 lakh mark, it has emerged as one of the fastest-growing models for Toyota in India. This growth reflects increasing acceptance of hybrid technology among Indian buyers.

A key factor behind this success is the strong-hybrid system offered in the Hyryder. It delivers high fuel efficiency, the ability to run on electric power in city conditions, and lower running costs compared to conventional petrol vehicles. This makes it an attractive option for buyers who want efficiency without moving fully to electric vehicles.

The growing demand for the Hyryder also reflects broader changes in the Indian automobile market. SUVs are becoming the preferred choice across segments, and hybrid technology is gaining attention as a practical solution for improving fuel efficiency.

Despite this shift, the Innova continues to maintain its importance in Toyota’s lineup. It remains a strong performer on an annual basis, especially in the fleet and family segments, where demand remains consistent.

The strong performance of both models has contributed to a record year for Toyota Kirloskar Motor. The company is on track for its highest-ever annual sales, supported by a balanced portfolio of SUVs and MPVs.

The rise of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder signals a clear shift in the market. Buyers are increasingly prioritizing efficiency, technology, and SUV styling, which is influencing product strategies across the industry.

As hybrid vehicles gain popularity and SUV demand continues to grow, the Hyryder is expected to play an even bigger role in shaping Toyota’s future in India.
