Mahindra’s Vision S concept-based SUV has been spotted testing again on Indian roads, revealing clearer details of both its exterior design and interior layout. The latest test sightings indicate that the vehicle is moving closer to its production stage. The model is expected to strengthen Mahindra’s lineup in the compact SUV segment and could arrive with a price tag positioned below ₹16 lakh in the Indian market.

The Vision S was originally showcased as a concept during Mahindra’s Freedom_NU event. It previewed a rugged compact SUV with a bold design language. The latest spy images suggest that the production version will retain much of the concept’s styling while incorporating practical elements suited for everyday use.

Rugged Exterior Design

The test vehicle shows a strong and upright SUV stance, even though it remains partially covered in camouflage. The overall design appears boxy and muscular, which aligns with Mahindra’s current styling direction for its SUV portfolio.

The front section appears to feature an upright grille design along with squared headlamp units. The proportions also hint that the SUV will remain compact in size, likely staying within the sub-four-metre category. This would allow the model to compete directly in India’s highly popular compact SUV segment.

From the side, the vehicle displays squared wheel arches and a tall body profile, giving it a rugged character. The SUV also appears to have large alloy wheels and high ground clearance, both of which are important for buyers looking for an SUV with a strong road presence.

At the rear, the design looks upright and sturdy, reinforcing the overall boxy styling theme. Mahindra has been focusing heavily on SUVs with a bold and practical appearance, and the Vision S seems to follow that same design philosophy.

Interior Layout Revealed

One of the most notable aspects of the latest spy shots is the glimpse of the cabin. The interior appears to feature a modern and clean dashboard layout.

The test vehicle seems to include a large central touchscreen infotainment system along with a digital instrument cluster. This setup is becoming increasingly common in new SUVs and suggests that Mahindra is aiming to offer a modern technology-focused cabin experience.

The steering wheel design appears similar to the ones seen in Mahindra’s newer models, indicating that the brand may continue using a familiar control layout across its upcoming vehicles.

The centre console also appears to be neatly arranged, with a focus on practicality and ease of use. The cabin layout suggests that Mahindra is aiming to combine rugged SUV styling with modern technology features.

Platform And Powertrain Possibilities

The Vision S production model is expected to be built on Mahindra’s newer modular vehicle platform. This architecture is designed to support multiple powertrain options and gives the company flexibility for future product development.

The SUV is likely to offer petrol and diesel engine options at launch. These engines are expected to be tuned to deliver a balance between performance and fuel efficiency, which remains an important factor for buyers in the compact SUV category.

The modular platform could also allow Mahindra to explore electrified powertrains in the future if market demand shifts toward hybrid or electric options.

If priced below ₹16 lakh, the Vision S-based SUV could become an important addition to Mahindra’s SUV lineup. The compact SUV segment in India continues to grow rapidly, and manufacturers are introducing more feature-rich models to attract buyers.

Mahindra already has a strong reputation for producing rugged SUVs, and the Vision S could bring that identity into a more compact and affordable package.
