India motorcycle exports reach record 4.3 million units in 2025 with factory shipment scene

India’s motorcycle exports reached an all-time high of 4.3 million units in calendar year 2025, marking the strongest annual performance ever for the country’s two-wheeler industry. The figures were officially confirmed in January 2026, underscoring a sharp rebound in overseas demand.

The export volume represents a 27% year-on-year increase compared to 2024 and exceeds the previous pre-pandemic peak by a wide margin. This performance reinforces India’s position as a key global manufacturing base for motorcycles.

Even as domestic motorcycle sales remain below earlier highs, exports provided crucial volume support to manufacturers, helping maintain production stability across factories.

Overseas Demand Powers Export Growth

  • Recovery across emerging international markets
  • Improved currency availability in key regions
  • Competitive manufacturing and supply reliability

Demand from Latin America, Africa, and select Asian markets remained the primary growth driver for Indian motorcycle exports in 2025. These regions continued to favour India-made motorcycles due to their affordability and durability.

Better foreign exchange availability in several export markets helped normalise payment cycles, allowing manufacturers to plan shipments more efficiently throughout the year.

India’s large-scale manufacturing ecosystem and established export logistics enabled companies to respond quickly to rising overseas demand despite softer domestic sales.

Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Dominate Export Volumes

  • Bajaj Auto held the largest export share
  • TVS Motor recorded strong year-on-year growth
  • Top two manufacturers contributed over 70% of exports

Bajaj Auto emerged as the largest exporter in 2025, shipping close to 1.9 million motorcycles, compared to around 1.6 million units in the previous year. Growth was supported by strong demand across Africa and Latin America.

TVS Motor Company followed with exports increasing to approximately 1.3 million units in 2025, up from about 0.9 million units in 2024. Expansion in Asian and African markets contributed to the rise.

Together, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor accounted for roughly 72% of India’s total motorcycle exports, highlighting their dominant role in the country’s international two-wheeler business.
