JSW MG Motor India has been spotted testing its upcoming flagship SUV, the MG Majestor, in what appears to be the final stage of road validation. The latest sightings from mid-January 2026 indicate that the development cycle is nearing completion, pointing toward an approaching official launch in India.

Near-Production Exterior Design Details

Although the test vehicle was fully camouflaged, several near-production design cues were visible. The MG Majestor carries a tall, upright stance that clearly establishes it as a full-size SUV. The front profile shows a wide grille outline with vertically arranged lighting elements, while the high bonnet and squared-off proportions underline its rugged and premium positioning.

The side profile highlights the SUV’s large footprint. A long wheelbase, large alloy wheels, thick wheel-arch cladding, and side steps were visible on the test mule. Roof rails and a relatively flat roofline suggest a focus on practicality and long-distance usability, especially for family-oriented buyers.

At the rear, the camouflage conceals finer details, but the overall shape indicates a wide tailgate and upright tail-lamp housings. This layout typically prioritises cabin space and boot accessibility, both key expectations in the full-size SUV segment.

Platform and Mechanical Expectations

The MG Majestor is expected to be based on a ladder-frame chassis, placing it among traditional body-on-frame SUVs rather than monocoque crossovers. The advanced stage of testing suggests that drivetrain calibration and durability testing are already complete.

While MG Motor India has not officially revealed specifications, the Majestor is expected to offer an automatic transmission as a core option. Higher variants are also likely to feature a four-wheel-drive system, aligning with the SUV’s premium and capability-focused positioning.

Positioning in MG’s India Line-up

Once launched, the Majestor will sit above the MG Gloster, becoming the most premium internal combustion SUV in MG Motor India’s portfolio. This move signals MG’s intent to strengthen its presence in the high-value SUV segment, where buyers prioritise size, comfort, and long-distance reliability.

The Majestor’s role as a flagship model suggests a clear step-up in road presence, cabin space, and overall positioning compared to existing MG SUVs sold in India.

Expected Feature Focus

Although interior details were not visible during testing, the late-stage development indicates that the cabin layout and electronics are production-ready. Based on MG’s current market approach, the Majestor is expected to focus on comfort, technology, and safety.

Expected highlights based on positioning and test observations include:

  • Full-size ladder-frame SUV construction
  • Three-row seating configuration
  • Automatic transmission across key variants
  • Four-wheel-drive option on select trims
  • Premium exterior design with a strong road presence

Launch Outlook

With final testing now underway, the MG Majestor appears to be entering the last stretch before launch. An official announcement detailing specifications, variant lineup, and pricing is expected closer to the market introduction, as MG Motor India prepares to add a new flagship SUV to its Indian range.
