Skoda Auto India has sold a cumulative 94,927 units of the Kushaq SUV in the domestic market till the end of December 2025, ahead of the facelifted model’s official launch today. The sales milestone comes four-and-a-half years after the Kushaq was introduced in June 2021 and underlines the model’s importance to Skoda’s India portfolio.
The Kushaq marked Skoda’s entry into India’s midsize SUV segment, which includes vehicles measuring between 4,000mm and 4,500mm in length. At the time of its launch, the segment was already highly competitive, making the Kushaq a strategically significant product for the brand’s long-term presence in India.
Developed exclusively for the Indian market, the Kushaq was the first model under Skoda’s India 2.0 programme, which focused on heavy localisation and cost competitiveness. It also became the Czech carmaker’s first production vehicle based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, a locally adapted version of the Volkswagen Group’s MQB architecture.
The MQB-A0-IN platform has since been used across multiple Volkswagen Group models in India. Among them is Skoda’s newer compact SUV, the Kylaq, which recorded wholesales of 46,872 units during calendar year 2025, reflecting growing acceptance of the platform in different SUV segments.
Kushaq Sales Performance Since Launch
According to wholesales data, the Kushaq’s impact was immediate after launch. In its first fiscal year on sale, FY2022, the SUV recorded sales of 21,427 units and accounted for over 98 percent of Skoda’s total SUV volumes for the year. The following fiscal, FY2023, remains the model’s best performance to date, with sales rising to 25,300 units, representing an 18 percent year-on-year increase.
In FY2023, the Kushaq alone contributed nearly 94 percent of Skoda Auto India’s total utility vehicle sales of 27,005 units. While volumes moderated in later years amid increasing competition in the midsize SUV space, the Kushaq continued to remain a core contributor to Skoda India’s overall sales.
In addition to domestic volumes, the Kushaq has also supported Skoda’s export operations, with 4,681 units shipped to international markets by the end of December 2025.
The facelifted Kushaq launches today with updates focused on design and feature enhancements, as Skoda looks to strengthen the model’s position in a segment where regular updates are critical to sustaining buyer interest.
