Mercedes-AMG CLE Mythos V8

Mercedes-AMG has officially teased a new high-performance CLE coupe that will be part of its ultra-exclusive Mythos series and will feature a V8 engine. The brand has confirmed that the prototype is currently undergoing cold-weather testing in Sweden. This will be the second Mythos model after the recently revealed PureSpeed roadster, highlighting AMG’s focus on limited-run, high-end performance cars.

The upcoming CLE Mythos V8 is based on the CLE platform but is positioned above the existing CLE 53 AMG. While Mercedes-AMG has not disclosed technical specifications, the teaser confirms the use of a V8 powertrain, a notable move at a time when many performance models are shifting to smaller or electrified engines. The engine is expected to be a version of AMG’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, tuned specifically for this low-volume model.

Visual details revealed so far indicate a significantly more aggressive design than the standard CLE. The prototype features a reworked front bumper with larger air intakes, a distinctive AMG grille, and a wider stance. At the rear, the coupe gets a fixed wing, a prominent diffuser, and quad exhaust outlets, all of which point to a strong emphasis on performance and aerodynamic stability at high speeds.

Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that the CLE Mythos V8 will be produced in limited numbers, consistent with the Mythos sub-brand’s positioning. These models are intended to sit at the very top of the AMG portfolio, focusing on exclusivity, craftsmanship, and mechanical character rather than volume sales. Final production numbers have not been announced.

Interior details have not yet been shown, but the car is expected to retain the core CLE cabin layout while adding Mythos-specific materials and performance-focused elements. These could include unique upholstery, bespoke trim finishes, and AMG-tuned hardware such as upgraded brakes and suspension components.

A global reveal is expected in the second half of 2026, although Mercedes-AMG has not confirmed a precise timeline. Pricing has also not been disclosed. If introduced in India, the CLE Mythos V8 would likely arrive as a fully imported, extremely limited offering aimed at collectors and enthusiasts rather than mainstream luxury buyers.

For the Indian market, this teaser is significant because it confirms Mercedes-AMG’s continued commitment to V8-powered performance cars, even in an era of tightening emissions norms. While availability will be limited, the CLE Mythos V8 would represent one of the most exclusive AMG coupes to be offered, should the brand decide to bring it to India.
