Maruti Suzuki has launched the e Vitara in India at a starting price of ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the company’s first fully electric SUV for the Indian market, and it comes with a battery rental option instead of the traditional full battery purchase.
The ₹10.99 lakh price is for the vehicle only. The battery is offered separately under a pay-per-use model. Customers will be charged ₹3.99 per kilometre driven. This lowers the upfront purchase cost, but overall ownership expense will depend on how much the vehicle is used.
Exterior design details
- Closed front grille with LED lighting
- SUV stance with balanced proportions
The e Vitara carries a clean and modern look. The closed grille gives it a clear electric identity, while the LED headlamps add sharpness to the front profile. It does not look overly futuristic, which may appeal to traditional SUV buyers.
From the side, the proportions remain practical. The overall design feels suitable for daily driving conditions and Indian road usage without excessive styling elements.
Interior space and layout
- Digital instrument cluster and touchscreen
- Family-friendly seating space
Inside, the dashboard design is straightforward. A digital instrument cluster and a central touchscreen handle most functions. The layout looks practical and easy to use rather than complex.
Rear seat space appears adequate for family usage. The focus seems to be on comfort and usability instead of flashy design elements.
Features and safety equipment
- Connected car technology included
- Multiple airbags and stability control
The SUV comes with modern connectivity features through its infotainment system. Smartphone integration and connected functions are part of the package.
On the safety side, it includes multiple airbags and electronic stability control. Higher trims are expected to offer additional convenience features.
Battery and range options
- 49kWh and 61kWh choices
- Claimed range up to 543km
Buyers can choose between two battery packs. The smaller 49kWh unit is suited for regular city use, while the larger 61kWh pack offers a higher claimed range.
The maximum certified range stands at 543km under ARAI testing. Both versions are front-wheel drive.
Pricing and booking details
- ₹10.99 lakh starting price
- Battery rental at ₹3.99 per km
The base Delta variant starts at ₹10.99 lakh, excluding the battery. The pay-per-kilometre rental model changes the way buyers calculate total ownership cost.
Bookings are open with a token amount of ₹21,000. Detailed variant-wise pricing is expected to be announced separately.
With the e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki has entered the electric SUV segment with a pricing structure aimed at reducing the initial financial burden. Buyers will need to evaluate their driving patterns to understand the long-term cost under the rental model.
