VinFast’s electric SUVs, the VinFast VF 6 and the VinFast VF 7, have secured a 5-star safety rating under India’s Bharat NCAP. The certification was officially announced on January 21, 2026, confirming that both models meet the highest occupant protection standards evaluated under the government-backed crash test programme. This development is important for VinFast as it strengthens the safety credentials of its electric vehicle portfolio ahead of its India market expansion.

As per the Bharat NCAP assessment results, the VinFast VF 6 scored 27.13 points out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection and 44.41 points out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection. The larger VF 7 recorded higher scores, achieving 28.54 points in adult occupant safety and 45.25 points in child occupant safety. These scores indicate strong structural integrity and effective restraint systems across both electric SUVs.

In frontal offset crash tests, both the VF 6 and VF 7 delivered high protection levels for key body regions, including the head, neck, chest, and upper legs of the driver and front passenger. Side impact tests also resulted in full scores, reflecting effective protection for occupants during lateral collisions. Additionally, pole side impact assessments showed head injury values well within Bharat NCAP’s prescribed safety limits, reinforcing the overall crashworthiness of both vehicles.

The 5-star Bharat NCAP rating adds to VinFast’s efforts to position safety as a core pillar of its India strategy. Both electric SUVs are expected to be assembled locally at the company’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu and will be equipped with multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and advanced driver assistance systems as standard. With safety emerging as a key purchase consideration for Indian buyers, the certification is likely to play a role in building trust and confidence around the VinFast brand as it prepares for wider market entry.
